About Ferrumwood

Biography:

     Hello everyone. First and foremost, I am an educator. I've been teaching Public School and College for 22 years, ages 10 through adult and continue to teach in the New York State public school system. I have been blacksmithing on the side for 30 years and have been an active blacksmith educator for the last 15 years. I started my career as a shop/carpentry teacher until moving into an academic position.  I continue to have a deep reverence for the trades and craftsmanship. The Ferrumwood Folk School was opened as a way to share that reverence with people. We are dedicated to preserving the art of traditional crafts such as blacksmithing, woodworking, leatherworking, needle-craft and glasswork. We are committed to passing on these time-honored skills to future generations and take pride in offering a space where creativity and craftsmanship flourish.
