About Ferrumwood

Biography:

     Hello everyone. First and foremost, I am an educator. I've been teaching Public School and College for 22 years, ages 10 through adult and continue to teach in the New York State public school system. I have been blacksmithing on the side for 30 years and have been an active blacksmith educator for the last 15 years. I started my career as a shop/carpentry teacher until moving into an academic position.  I continue to have a deep reverence for the trades and craftsmanship. The Ferrumwood Folk School was opened as a way to share that reverence with people. We are dedicated to preserving the art of traditional crafts such as blacksmithing, woodworking, leatherworking and needlework and glasswork. We are committed to passing on these time-honored skills to future generations and take pride in offering a space where creativity and craftsmanship flourish.
